The Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) was inaugurated by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan yesterday.Delegates from 69 countries took part in the inaugural function of KTM, which will feature 1,000 buyers and 55,000 business meets. The event will end on Sunday.
The Governor said that states need to make consistent efforts to better Kerala’s tourism progressand economy.
“A meaningful engagement among the Indian states is important for sustainable and inclusive development of tourism.
This is the right time to further strengthen the cooperation and coordination among the states in the tourism sector for the benefit of everyone,” the Governor said.
Continued restrictions on international flights due to the pandemic have indeed nourished Kerala’s domestic tourism; however, Kerala needs to maintain its warm ties with other states of India for further improvement of the travel industry. “Tourism, apart from being an economic activity, is a cultural experience that transcends borders,” said the Governor.
Kerala Tourism presented a curtain-raiser to the second edition of its IPL-modeled Champions Boat League water-race show.
Guests were acquainted with Kerala’s various tourism aspects — the state’snatural beauty, history, heritage, farm tourism, caravans and adventure packages along with cultural and rural destinations.
