Kwita Izina is one of the noteworthy celebrations in the world related to nature where the newly born gorillas of Rwanda are given names.

At the Kinigi grounds, the event for this year has finally been arranged on the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park Rwanda. This event attracted an enormous crowd where families, conservationists, friends, celebrities and local people were seen.

This annual event, for the last two years, has been hosted in a virtual mode due to the Corona Virus. The great demonstration at the 2022 Kwita Izina highlights the time-consuming yet sure shot recovery of the tourism sector of Rwanda.

This event of Kwita Izina is based on a centuries-old customs in which the Rwandans gave names to their children in the company of their family and friends. Rwanda back in 2005, introduced this new style for the conservation world where the baby mountain gorillas were given new names and right away became a universal nature celebrations.

Giving new names to these great calm and quiet apes gives them the status they truly deserve.

This celebration is organized to appreciate the constant works of the trackers, the rangers, researchers, conservationists, and communities that inhabit in and around the Volcanoes national park and do everything to safeguard these gorillas. In the last 18 years, over 350 baby gorillas have been given names.

On the 2nd of September, Kwita Izina was organized this year hand appened on the fringes of the Volcanoes National Park.
