Lack of enthusiasm of Karnataka government for designing packages for tourism promotion

The Central government initiative, IRCTC, Bengaluru unit, has planned air tour packages to Assam and Meghalaya this summer. The package tour of five nights and 6 days has high demand, which has made the IRCTC organize another package tour in April. In Karnataka, which has rich tourism potential, tourism stakeholders are thoughtful regarding the lack of enthusiasm of the government and its agencies in designing packages for tourism promotion.

Karnataka Tourism Society Founder member BS Prashanth said that he recently had a meeting in Bengaluru with stakeholders and thought toask the state government for its support ininspiring tourism activities.

“We have been pressing for tourism packages from the government agencies that would help in a big way. Outbound travellers are more in Karnataka because of attractive package offers,” Prashanth said. Karnataka has failed to lure visitors to the state that would create both employment and fetch revenue, he said.
