Ladakh gears up to host Zanskar Winter Sports and Tourism Festival from Jan 28

Once again it is that time of the year when Zanskar in Ladakh is getting ready to welcome visitors to the Festival to be held. As per latest reports, the 2nd edition of Zanskar Winter Sports and Tourism Festival will be held from January 28 to February 15 (tentative dates).

Sonam Dorjay, Sub Divisional Magistrate of Zanskar, recently held a meeting to review the arrangements for Zanskar Winter Sports and Tourism Festival (2022-23) that will be held on the said dates.

Snow skiing, ice climbing, yoga in snow, and many more such events wll be held during the Festival. If reports are to go by, the SDM added that Union Ministers, Commissioner Secretaries/Secretaries of UT Ladakh and other dignitaries will be attending the festival.

The Zanskar SDM informed that the event will likely be inaugurated by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports & Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur.

Related officials were also directed to ensure that all arrangements are in place with regard to the festival, such as water supply, medical facilities, tents, ambulances, boarding and lodging of participants etc.

The festival highlights bright-coloured dresses, dance & musical performances by locals. This wonderful festival is celebrated to connect people socially.
