Latin America reshuffle prompts American Airlines to plan more flights to Venezuela

Thursday, March 29, 2018

american-airlinesAmerican Airlines has started planning more flights to Venezuela from Florida at the end of the year marking an addition that contrasts with plans made by many international airlines that have minimized service on account of economic and political turmoil in the nation.

The world’s greatest airline would offer thrice-weekly service that commences from 19th December from Miami to Caracas that would be flying on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Also it would be served on a single aisle Airbus 319 as per Laura Masvidal, the spokeswoman of the airliner.

Already, the airline has two daily departures from Miami to Caracas.

The airline has added the flights because the Miami-Caracas route continues to perform well as per Masvidal and he feels that adding the new flights would bring American’s weekly service to Caracas to 17 flights.

It also added a daily flight from Miami to Maracaibo in Venezuela.

However its service to the country is still far less than the nearby 50 flights a week it used to operate. American Airlines cut its services from the U.S. to Venezuela in mid-2014 amidst a dispute over the repatriation of the funds of American Airlines.

This modification is part of the broader plans of American’s service to Latin America that is had declared on Monday.

Nearly 13% of America’s more than $42 billion in operating revenue last year that was sourced from this region.

Furthermore, American is also adding service to its existent routes to Mexico and had declared new service like nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Argentina, Buenos Aires, Miami to Cordoba, Dallas-Fort Worth to Oaxaca, Mexico, Philadelphia to Mexico City.
