Recently claimed on Wednesday that Los Angeles World Airports celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Pets Unstressing Passengers program at LAX representing pup parades and giveaways for departing passengers.

The support for LAX PUP’s program began in April 2013, with an easy number of 30 therapy dogs to supposedly ‘enhance the passenger experience’ at LAX. As of 2023, the program increased to 80 canines and volunteer handlers.

Wednesday’s festival was held in Terminal 1 of LAX in partnership with Southwest Airlines where more than a dozen dogs in true Hollywood style paraded down a red carpet with their handlers who stopped for photos and interviews by the Pup – paparazzi.

The LAX PUP’s program has served as a world-renowned program that has served as a model for more than 90 airports with having a similar program nationally and internationally. The therapy dogs meet and greet passengers in every LAX terminal which helps to release stress and anxiety that is more associated with flying.

As stated by Heidi Huebner, LAX PUPs Program Director, it is a thoughtful feeling of seeing their passengers take a moment during their busy travels to stop and pet one of their therapy dogs.

He added that they are grateful to Southwest Airlines for helping them recognize the benefits of this program, and significantly help them celebrate their tenth anniversary in a memorable way.
