After hitting immensely during the pandemic times, Georgia tourism is all prepared to welcome a record summer this year.

At the time of the Memorial Day holiday period, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is anticipating managing about 2.1 million passengers. This started this Thursday and will extend through the coming Wednesday. The number is up from around 2 million travelers during the same time 2022.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is hopeful to fly almost 2.8 million passengers. This would be a 17% rise over last year. The expected average of 500,000 passengers every day is anticipated to go beyond the volume of pre-pandemic holiday weekend travel rush that was logged in 2019.

The executive director of the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association, Jim Sprouse, said that this summer, it’s going to be a record travel year for leisure. Jim added that while looking back to 2019, they have already
started flirting with those statistics once again and surpassing them in few cases as well.

In fact, the tourism industry of Georgia has remained powerful all through the pandemic.

Near the beginning of the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, the state Department of Economic Development reported almost 151.8 million visits.

In pre-pandemic 2019, this number went up to 150.9 million. In 2021, visitations increased once again to almost 160 million.
