Lewis County Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Chris Richards said that the top five countries to visit the CVB website are the United States, the Russian Federation, Great Britain, France and Netherlands and Germany tying for the fifth spot.
The top 10 states to visit were West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Washington, D.C., Virginia, California, Michigan, North Carolina and Illinois, Richards said.
“We also had 1,855 calls and visits to the office from 31 states and two countries — Canada and Ireland,” she added.
The CVB assisted with numerous events and activities across the county during the last three months. The commissioners praised Richards for the job she does in representing and promoting the county.
Economic Development Authority Director Mike Herron said the recently announced $83.7 billion investment in West Virginia by China could bring better times to the county in the coming years.
“If it comes to fruition, the investment would be more impact than the entire economic output of West Virginia,” Herron said. “We have the location and skilled workforce for the power plants and related infrastructure to be part of the projects.”
