OmanDream of relishing a hot air balloon ride in Europe? Well, you can enjoy that experience in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania. Starting right from design shops to ‘breakfast’ at 3pm, Lithuania’s capital is abuzz with creativity.

A land of surprises, independent Lithuania (Lietuva) is rapidly turning as one of the rare gems of Europe and at present, looking at Oman as the main target for future growth in tourism.

To quote, Boleta Senkiene, honorary consul of Oman in Lithuania, “Oman and Lithuania have many things in common as both nations are very beautiful, clean, safe and the world’s most welcoming countries. Lithuania is still a new destination to those in Oman, but we hope it will improve from this year because of the fantastic air connections with Turkish Airlines.”

She arranged a Familiarization Trip this month for the best travel agents in Oman for encouraging travelers to visit Lithuania. The travel agents were shown different Lithuania tourist attractions, its historical sites, landscapes, cuisine, Spas, etc. The objective of Lithuania in attracting greater number of Omani tourists is the result of the rising relationship between the two nations that came even closer with Lithuania taking in the euro zone and the opening of the honorary consulate in Lithuania.

Set up in 2013, Oman is the only Arab nation to be represented by an honorary consulate in Lithuania. Two years at a stretch in 2015 and 2016, Oman organized the Vilnius Book Fair, where its colorful stand relished huge success and was visited by tens of thousands of people, including Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of Lithuania.
