London City Airport recently welcomed the return of flights to Zurich once again. With nearly 429,019 passengers travelling between the two locations, the route used to be London City Airport’s fourth most popular route in 2019. At present, five flights a week will be operated go between London’s most central airport and Switzerland’s largest city by home-based BA CityFlyer.

The airport has also called upon on government and industry partners to introduce a consistent testing regime for air travel which could substantially reduce the current requirement for quarantine in the short term. The action has been requested as it would make travel more viable for more people, which would be a significant move for the aviation and travel industry.

Richard Hill, Chief Commercial Officer, London City Airport said in a statement that the return of Zurich flights is a positive step for the airport, good news for business travel, and important step in the economic recovery. He mentioned that Zurich is a key hub of international business, finance, and government and hence it crucial that London has strong, fast and easy connections to the destination directly from the centre of the capital.

He also added that the airport is hopeful that, with COVID-19 cases consistently falling in Switzerland, the government will remove it from the quarantine list and it would be an enormous advantage for the airlines as it would allow them to schedule more routes and rotations through the winter season.
