London Gatwick expands its global reach, introducing new and resumed long-haul routes to Cape Town and Bangkok, boosting travel options for South Africa and Thailand.
London Gatwick is expanding its long-haul reach with new and resumed routes to South Africa and Thailand launching this week.
On Monday, budget airline Norse Atlantic introduced direct flights from Gatwick to Cape Town, operating three times a week on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
British Airways also resumed its Gatwick-Bangkok service to Suvarnabhumi Airport this week, marking its return after a four-year pause due to the pandemic. Initially scheduled at three weekly flights, the service will expand to up to five weekly flights in January and February 2025, and four in March 2025.
However, the UK airline also announced it will temporarily suspend its daily Gatwick-New York JFK route from 12 December 2024 to 25 March 2025 due to delays in engine deliveries. BA continues to offer eight daily flights to New York from Heathrow.
Additionally, the launch of BA’s new Heathrow-Kuala Lumpur service, initially set for 10 November, has been postponed to April 2025.
