London Luton Airport has recorded an increase in passenger numbers for January 2019. About 1.1 million passengers travelled through Luton Airport in January 2019, which was 12.9 per cent more than that in 2018 for the same month.
Popular destinations for winter breaks included Geneva and Lisbon, while Amsterdam and Bucharest continued to be the busiest routes overall.
Passengers are now able to benefit from myriad improvements such as the addition of 3,000 seats and 48 new shops and restaurants in a retail and dining area. The official opening of the newly-upgraded terminal in December, and these additions helped in the growth of Luton Airport. The redevelopment will make the journeys more enjoyable and more comfortable.
Even Heathrow had seen a rise in number of passengers in January 2019. About 5.9 million passengers had travelled through Heathrow in January 2019 – a rise by 2.1 per cent.
Alberto Martin, chief executive of London Luton Airport, said: “January has been an exciting start to 2019, as we continue to welcome more passengers than ever before. In December 2018, Alberto Martin, the then London Luton Airport’s (LLA) current planning and investment director, was appointed CEO of the hub.
The redevelopment, new routes and seats will maintain the momentum of the growth.
