According to figures compiled by the Press Association it was noted that the London Luton Airport is the worst in the UK for delays.
Along with the Civil Aviation Authority, the organisation revealed that passengers at the airport could expect an average delay of 19.7 minutes on each flight.
It was reported to be almost twice as long as delays at the best performing airport, London Heathrow. Here each plane is delayed by an average of 11 minutes and considering the punctuality figures Gatwick, Jersey and Durham Tees Valley were the next worst performing airports.
The study also examined scheduled and charter flights, but not cancelled services, from the 25 busiest airports and the The Press Association stated that flights across all airports left an average of 15 minutes late.
The top performers were Leeds Bradford, Belfast City and London City .The CAA further mentioned that the data allows passengers to make informed choices about which airports they fly from.
Factors outside its controls had an influence on the punctuality which includes air traffic control strike late arriving aircraft, bad weather and congested airspace as per a Luton airport spokeswoman.
