German airline Lufthansa is all set to offer 160 flights between India and Germany for the month of September alone, with more than five flights per day and over four times more than August. The airline will be operating between its German hubs Frankfurt and Munich, and the key Indian cities of Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Indian customers will be able to enjoy connectivity throughout Lufthansa’s global network from Frankfurt and Munich.

The airline has been operating flights from India for several months between Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore and its hubs Frankfurt and Munich. India and Germany has also signed a bilateral air bubble pact in the month of July that allows both the countries to operate special international flights with certain restrictions. As of now, around 10 weekly flights have been scheduled between Delhi-Frankfurt, Delhi-Munich, Mumbai-Frankfurt and Bangalore-Frankfurt for the month of September.

However, the airline will continue to prioritise passenger safety and observe optimal hygiene on the ground and onboard. The carrier will constantly review all procedures throughout the entire travel chain to ensure complete safety of customers and employees. All aircraft operated by Lufthansa Group airlines are equipped with state-of-the-art HEPA filters that continuously clean the cabin air and protects it from contaminants such as dust, bacteria, and viruses. In addition, all air cabins are completely renewed approximately every 3 minutes creating a much higher ventilation rate as compared to other applications and means of transport.

The airline has also redesigned the onboard service after considering the duration of the flight in order to minimise the interaction between guests and crew, reduce the risk of infection onboard, alongside providing maximum comfort to passengers. All Lufthansa Group airlines are also working at airports in Germany and destination countries to ensure physical distancing and other hygiene measures on the ground.

The airline has made it mandatory to wear a mouth and nose mask throughout the flying process from boarding the flight to disembarkation and has also introduced strict aircraft cleaning standards for every flight. It is also conducting regular temperature checks and has blocked middle seats in several flights to maintain social distancing onboard. Lufthansa Group has also launched a free-of-charge rebooking policy for its customers regardless of the terms and conditions of their purchased tickets.

George Ettiyil, Senior Sales Director for South Asia, Lufthansa said in a statement that the airline is extremely happy and feels honoured to offer the customers a comprehensive flight schedule once again. He shared that the present scenario reflects the ongoing high demand for international air travel to and from India, one of the world’s most important aviation markets.

He also mentioned that the company is honoured to be part of reconnecting India with the world by offering customers the safest in-flight experience and connectivity to all major destinations around the globe. He concluded that with the greatly increased flight schedule for flights to and from India, strict hygiene measures, and a convenient rebooking policy, Lufthansa is enabling Indians to fly safely and comfortably to worldwide destinations amid the present unprecedented times.
