London Luton Airport has appointed Alberto Martin as chief executive with immediate effect.
Martin will be replacing Nick Barton who will be stepping down from the current role while Martin at present is the planning and investment director.
Martin has recently successfully delivered LLA’s £160 million terminal transformation project and also oversaw the preparations and negotiations for Luton Borough Council’s £225 million Direct Air-Rail Transit which 2021 will be linking the airport terminal with Luton Airport Parkway.
Martin has more than 20 years’ experience in airports having served in several executives roles across Europe. It also included ten years as managing director of Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura airports.
After LLA’s single biggest transformation and experiencing record growth in passenger numbers Alberto will facilitate in delivering a world-class travel experience.
During Barton’s tenure the airport saw a growth in passengers from 9.7 million to 16.5 million in a year helping LLA being the fastest-growing airports in Europe.
