Macao hotel occupancy rate on the rise

Macao hotel occupancyMacao registered an average occupancy rate 82 percent to 84 per cent in 2016, a year-on-year increase of 1 to 3 percentage points, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) revealed.

 

There are 113 hotel establishments in Macao supplying a total of 37,634 rooms by the end of 2016, a year-on-year increase of nearly 14 per cent.

 

Among them, there are 47 establishments of budget accommodation with a total of 1,513 rooms.

 

The average room rate of three to five star hotels was US$161 in 2016, down by 12.7 per cent.

 

Preliminary data show that the overnight-stay visitors in 2016 exceeded 15.7 million, up by 9.8 per cent, accounting for 50.7 percent of total arrivals.
