After having two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Macau region, this autonomous district has raised its restrictions in borders, barring visitors from all countries except China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan from entering.

Of late, MGM Resorts has said that visits to Macau were not bouncing back even after its casinos were reopened, and this new order probably make sure that not occur anytime soon.

Macau had gone a month after the close down without having new confirmed cases of but a Spain businessman who came on Monday to Macau through Beijing was tested positive. This incident followed another case on Tuesday where a female resident coming from London to Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong, and entered Macao over the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge was found with high fever when she landed She was sent to a hospital where the virus was confirmed.

Upon arrival, Macau imposed mandatory visitor testing following the original outbreak.
The new ban on tourists are not valid to the residents returning from the mainland or from Hong Kong and Taiwan, though visitors from certain high-risk areas of China have to undergo six to eight hours of medical observation. Those coming from high-risk areas elsewhere will be placed under medical surveillance at appointed hotels, or they may self-quarantine for two weeks.
