Spain this year witnesses the tourism decline as there was the political tension over Catalonia. But now Spain is moving its tourism industry. The foreigners outstripped Spanish city for the first time yesterday.
A bouquet of cultural attractions also lures the tourists. This year Spain saw the €1.2bn of lost business for the region where tourism employs around 405,000.
Now the international visitors are expected to rise 7 percent in the fourth quarter, the ministry says, and their spending by 10 percent.
The recent terror attacks in and near Barcelona at the end of the month of August gave a reminder for tourism declination. The pressure rising from 7.2 million annual visitors, according the overnight stays in the hotels in Spain of about 1.6 million inhabitants which also triggered much publicized protests in Barcelona.
In tourism, Spain has its own charm in Europe. The foreign tourists spent €60.5bn, which is an increase of 14 per cent compared with the same period in 2016. As there are a strong euros and the weakness of sterling, there is a total of British tourist ranked fifth.
The average expenditure in the month of August was €12.
Madrid is the hub of international tourists as the travel with the families and friends. The average stay in the hotels is on average of 7 to 8 days. The number of visitors at the end of the July was 37 per cent to 417,000 from United States, which is higher than the European tourists and Britons stood the third. The number of Chinese tourists was also doubled than the previous years.
The political tension of Barcelona and Catalonia discouraged many travellers to go to Spain. But many of them travelled to the other parts of the country instead of abandoning the nation.
