Maharashtra Tourism disclosed its new initiatives taking ‘Rethinking Tourism’ into account during the World Tourism Day festivities at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium. The event was graced by the state Tourism Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha; Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism Dr. Nitin Kareer; the Director of the Directorate of Tourism (DoT) Milind Borikar; social activist & singer Amruta Fadnavis and singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan.
For supporting the global program of World Tourism Day – ‘Rethinking Tourism’, the Maharashtra tourism department took the initiative to enable more sustainable, strong and comprehensive tourism. During the event, Minister Lodha urged everyone to keep Maharashtra at the forefront because of its unexploited touristic features.
The theme for 2022 is ‘Rethinking Tourism’, which Maharashtra Tourism is applying by making use of groundbreaking activities in tourism. The effort has been applauded, since one international tourist visit creates employment for 9 people. Hence, the Maharashtra government is lending their support for these initiatives.
During the occasion, Maharashtra Tourism unveiled 75 Mumbai videos covering 200 tourist sites in the city. The episodes will be posted every week on Maharashtra Tourism’s official YouTube channel. It is also creating 360-degree Virtual Reality (VR) videos and vlogs for the 6 UNESCO heritage sites spending around Rs. 29 lakhs.
The Maharashtra tourism department also launched ‘Kaano Dekhi with Unlimited Maharashtra’ podcast to generate responsiveness about the state’s various destinations, cultures and food.
