Bernama news agency recognized the two projects as the National Tourism Policy (DPN2030) and the National Cultural Policy (DKN) all set to boost up the tourism and culture of the country.
Minister Datuk Mohammadin Ketapi explained that the two policies, in line with the goals of the “Shared Prosperity Vision 2030”, are in the process of getting finalized at present.
“If everything goes as planned, the DPN2030 will be launched soon, while the DKN will be launched in the first quarter of this year,” he said at the MOTAC monthly assembly earlier this week.
The DPN2030 aims on rising national income, endorsing cooperation and investment, empowering the local communities and fortifying the resilience of tourism.
The strategy will be executed through six key areas, i.e., transforming tourism governance; setting up tourism investment zone; digitalization in tourism; improving tourist experience as well as satisfaction; increasing commitment to sustainable tourism and enhancing the capacity of human capital, he said.
In the meantime, the DKN is a long term concept of shared affluence that takes into account the cultural inclusion of different Malaysian ethnic groups.
“This year is particularly important for MOTAC as the Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020) is a national mission set by the government to attract 30 million foreign tourists with a target of MYR100 billion in spending.”
“In this regard, understanding and cooperation with the tourism industry players in the country is crucial to the development of the tourism industry based on the National Eco-Tourism Plan 2016-2025,” he said.
