Maldives Promotes Luxury and Sustainable Travel Experiences at FITUR 2025, Strengthening Spain and Andalusian Travel Market

Thursday, January 23, 2025

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), in collaboration with 25 industry partners, is promoting the unique travel experiences of the Maldives at FITUR 2025. The event, taking place in Madrid, Spain, from January 22-26, serves as a crucial platform for the Maldives to strengthen its presence in the Spanish and European tourism markets.

FITUR, one of the most significant events in the global tourism calendar, provides opportunities for industry professionals to connect with inbound and outbound international markets, particularly those in Latin America. By participating in FITUR, MMPRC aims to enhance the Maldives’ brand presence and establish strong connections with travel agents from key markets in the region.

The Maldives’ stand at FITUR 2025 reflects the nation’s core tourism themes of sustainability, luxury, romance, adventure, and cultural tourism. It features interactive activities such as local food tastings, a photo backdrop with traditional Maldivian props, and personalized calligraphy bookmark creations. Visitors to the stand are also treated to visual and video presentations on LED screens, showcasing the Maldives’ diverse tourism offerings. To add an element of excitement, raffle draws are being conducted, offering complimentary holidays to the Maldives, sponsored by Ithaa Holidays Maldives.

This year, MMPRC is emphasizing a variety of travel experiences, including romantic getaways, wellness retreats, family vacations, adventure holidays, and both summer and winter escapes. Such efforts align with the Maldives’ strategy to appeal to a broad audience of travelers while promoting the country’s natural beauty and sustainability initiatives.

Spain continues to be a key market for the Maldives, ranking among the top ten in terms of tourist arrivals in 2024. Last year, the Maldives welcomed 47,835 visitors from Spain, a testament to the growing interest in the destination. MMPRC plans to sustain this momentum through strategic promotional activities tailored to the Spanish market, ensuring the Maldives remains a sought-after destination in Europe.

FITUR 2025 is also an opportunity for Maldivian travel trade partners to network, share updates, and showcase new tourism products and services. Through this event, MMPRC reinforces its commitment to positioning the Maldives as a premier global destination for sustainable luxury and cultural tourism.
