Manchester is gearing up for a bustling Saturday as it prepares to host multiple major events across the city.

Thousands are expected to flock to Manchester Pride’s annual Parade, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, followed by a vibrant lineup of free and ticketed events in the Gay Village throughout the weekend.

Simultaneously, Manchester United will clash with Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League at Old Trafford, kick-off at 3pm.

Adding to the excitement, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will rock Wythenshawe Park, joined by Primal Scream and Future Islands, with doors opening from 2pm.

Transport authorities, TfGM, anticipate peak travel between 12pm-2.30pm and 5pm-7pm around St Peter’s Square, Deansgate, and Old Trafford. The Metrolink Airport line, including Wythenshawe Park stop, is poised to be bustling as fans head to see the former Oasis star perform live. Notably, Saturday will witness some strike action affecting bus and train services, although Stagecoach’s industrial action has been called off, limited First Buses are anticipated due to RMT strikes.

TfGM advises utilizing shuttle buses to Wythenshawe Park and Old Trafford, or taking advantage of Metrolink park and ride options. However, expect congestion on the Outer Ring Road (M60), key routes towards the city center, Wythenshawe Park, and Old Trafford. Traffic is expected around junctions 6 and 7 of the M60 due to the United game. Sean Dyball, TfGM head of customer experience, encourages everyone to embrace the upcoming bank holiday weekend in Greater Manchester and make the most of the vibrant events and experiences it has to offer.
