An event is ordinarily celebrated by a community. There are countless festivals in the world that take place everyday throughout the year. The festivals are the time of year when the whole community comes together to relieve their stress that they have been facing the whole year. These festivals are known for its glamorous celebrations, galas, the atmosphere and the people who come together to take part in these celebrations.

These are some of the most interesting celebrations that one can see across the globe.

St David’s Day

Date: 1 March 2022

Place: London, United Kingdom

The Welsh national day or St. David Day is celebrated in abundance across London, with restaurants serving traditional dishes and plentiful entertainment on offer. St David is the patron saint of Wales, and since London has a large Welsh contingency, you’ll find a party atmosphere at the many events held across the city. To mark the day, Welsh people around the world wear one or both of Wales’s national emblems – a daffodil and a leek.  Patron saints are chosen by the communities to be special protectors or guardians over all areas of life.  Rarebit, Welsh cakes and leeks and lamb are the best treats in St. David’s Day.

Caravel La Pinta Festival

Date: 4-6 March, 2022

Place: Baiona, Spain

The people of Baiona in Spain celebrate Caravel La Pinta Festival to commemorate the arrival of the caravel “La Pinta” in its port, bringing the news of the discovery of America. La Pinta was a caravel-type vessel. By tradition Spanish ships were named after saints and usually given nicknames. In order to remember this important historical event, there are many celebrations in March. A real medieval festival takes place on the streets in the old quarter and in the nearby avenues, selling typical 15th century crafts. Musicians, minstrels, jugglers and artisans provide entertainment for visitors.

Feast of the Annunciation

Date: 25 March, 2022

Place: Greece

On this feast, the Christians celebrate the day that Angel Gabriel announced Mary the incarnation of Christ. The feast is celebrated on 25th March to commemorate both the belief that the spring equinox was not only the day of God’s act of Creation but also the beginning of Christ’s redemption of that same Creation. This day coincides with a National Holiday in Greece, the day where the Greeks declared the Revolutionary War against the Turks, on March 25th, 1821. This is why military parades take place that day in all Greek towns.
