TUI Group’s Marella Cruises has decided to extend a pause in operations until November 15, at the earliest. At present, the Marella Cruises fleet have five ships including Marella Dream, Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2, Marella Explorer and Marella Explorer 2. The cruise line is also the third largest line in the U.K.
The company recently informed that the latest decision has been undertaken due to the on-going uncertainty revolving around COVID-19 travel restrictions. The cruise previously informed that it is expecting to return to operation at the end of next month. However, the crisis related to travel and the coronavirus pandemic that has largely impacted the cruise industry across the globe prompted the change of plans.
All customers whose bookings are impacted by the latest decision will be allowed choose from a range of flexible options. Passengers can amend their booking for free with a 10% incentive of the total value of their original booking, receive a refund credit and up to 10% incentive of the value of their booking or a full refund. On the other hand, as the European cruise sector tested the water for the first time since the COVID-19 shutdown, MSC Grandiosa has returned to the seas in the Mediterranean last week.
