The Marrakech Air Show 2024, held under the esteemed High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, concluded on November 2, marking a significant moment in Morocco’s aerospace journey. The event, hosted at the Royal Air Force base, brought together 194 exhibitors, 50 international delegations, and nearly 30,000 visitors, reaffirming Morocco’s growing stature as a global aerospace hub.
A Showcase of Global Aerospace Innovation
This year’s show featured some of the world’s leading aerospace and defense companies, including Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Embraer, and Safran, all unveiling their latest advancements in technology. As the country of honor, the UAE showcased an impressive 800 m² pavilion, highlighting groundbreaking innovations from leading Emirati aerospace companies.
One of the most noteworthy moments of the event was the signing of several high-profile agreements that further solidified Morocco’s appeal as an aerospace leader. The creation of the African Centre of Manufacturing Excellence (ACME) in partnership with Boeing marked a pivotal step in enhancing Morocco’s research capabilities in aerospace manufacturing. Embraer also expanded its footprint in Morocco, signing multiple agreements related to commercial aviation, defense, and urban mobility. Other key partnerships with companies like TRELLEBORG and Composite Industrie Maroc focused on strengthening local supply chains and expanding Morocco’s industrial ecosystem.
Investing in Innovation and Local Talent
MAS 2024 was not only a celebration of technological advancement but also highlighted Morocco’s growing emphasis on human capital and innovation. Over 100 engineering students from Moroccan universities participated, showcasing the country’s rising talent pool. A dedicated 500 m² area for startups allowed new companies to present innovative solutions, emphasizing the future of aerospace technology in Morocco.
The Moroccan aerospace sector has seen remarkable growth in recent years. The number of active companies in the industry has more than doubled over the last decade to 151, while the sector now employs 24,000 people. In 2024 alone, Morocco’s aerospace industry experienced a 23% increase in exports, reaching 2 billion dirhams per month, further establishing the country as a key player in the global aerospace manufacturing landscape.
A Grand Finale with an Airshow Extravaganza
The show came to a spectacular close on November 2, when the public had the chance to view a wide array of aircraft and military displays. A thrilling two-hour airshow captivated nearly 20,000 visitors, bringing the event to an exciting and memorable end.
Marrakech Air Show 2024 not only underscored Morocco’s impressive aerospace achievements but also positioned the country at the forefront of innovation, international partnerships, and local talent development. With a clear focus on growing its aerospace industry, Morocco is set to remain a central figure in global aerospace manufacturing for years to come.
