Marriott International is back with its famed ‘Run to Give’ charity marathon in Lucknow on 24th September. The marathon started from Renaissance Lucknow Hotel, continuing till Janeshwar Mishra Park and culminating back at the beginning point, covering a distance of 8 kilometers.
The marathon wasopen for anyone and all the participants received a certificate of completion from Marriott.
“We are extremely proud to be hosting this event. With the growing presence of our hotel in the city, we have extended our complete support to the initiative. We had a heavy turnout of participants as the event is already quite popular among the masses”says Mr. Pankaj Gupta, General Manager, RenaissanceLucknow Hotel.
The marathon was held in 206 locations across Asia Pacific on the same date wherever there is a Marriott Hotel. Started in 2014, ‘Run to Give’ is an annual event organized by Marriott Group. The event is an initiative that brings various hotels together to organize marathons in different cities.‘Run to Give’ is a part of the ‘Take Care’ movement by Marriott, which aims to encourage hotel associates to promote physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of the underprivileged, along with creating strong team synergy while reinforcing the company’s core values of “We Serve Our World”.
“The marathon raised a good amount of support forRising Star Outreach, an NGO based in Chennai. We are happy to be serving as a medium for implementing Marriott’s social cause”, says Mr. Sudeep Sharma, Hotel Manager, FairfieldBy Marriott Lucknow.
Started in 2014 by the legacy Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific as Hotel Charity Run, the inaugural event witnessed agreat response of over 20,000 runners taking part in 92 locations across Asia Pacific.A total of USD 228,000 was raised by the event. The marathon was officially namedas ‘Run to Give’ in 2015. 2016 marked the first associate event of ‘Run to Give’, where legacy Starwood and Marriott International came together to celebrate a meaningful cause after their mergerin September of the same year. A contribution of nearly USD 270,000 was raised by the event.
Marriott International’s partnership with Rising Star Outreach, India reflects its broad commitment to enabling opportunities for the underprivileged sections of the society. The money raised at ‘Run to Give’ bought a positive difference to the society.
