The Meetings Industry Association (mia) recently announced that it has partnered with event tech brand HeadBox to offer its new AIM Secure accreditation to the 7,500 U.K. venues listed on the event tech company’s platform. The national quality accreditation for venues features infection prevention and control protocols. The AIM Secure analyses the quality of a venue’s meeting and events facilities as well as its compliance with legislation.

After achieving the new professional standard, venues would be able to demonstrate commitment to the health and safety of both customers and staff. In addition, Jane Longhurst, Chief Executive, mia would be joining HeadBox’s ‘Event Expert Research Panel’, created with the Institute of Travel Management as a further part of the collaboration. This panel of industry professionals meets once a month to evaluate the continuous impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the events industry; the challenges faced by the industry as well as discuss the plans and solutions for meeting the challenges.

Alongside the AIM Secure initiative, the mia and are also encouraging the industry to get behind VisitBritain’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ initiative that aims to support the Domestic Recovery Campaign. Jane Longhurst said in a statement that mia is delighted to be joining forces with HeadBox as it is essential that the industry collaborates and works together to provide a safe return for events. She shared that the enhanced AIM Secure standard is already being rapidly adopted by the industry, and hence it is fantastic to be working with HeadBox.

She also mentioned that the collaboration will help offer accreditation to the customers of HeadBox as well extend mia’s ongoing commitment of championing best practice within the sector. Andrew Needham, CEO, HeadBox added that the company is aware that safety will be at the top of the agenda once in-person events are returned, so helping customers and clients feel confident is important. He further mentioned that HeadBox has chosen to work in partnership with the mia because its AIM Secure standard is robust, established and most importantly is a comprehensive industry, government and buyer-recognised standard.
