Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre welcomes the first ever Australian DragExpo

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is excited to welcome an expected crowd of 5,000 this weekend to the very first Australian DragExpo. Set over three days, Australian fans will catch up with local and international drag artists, with a VIP Opening Gala on Friday 5th August followed by two days of everything drag, beauty and pop-culture.

Following the pandemic postponement of the inaugural DragExpo in 2020, it promises to be one of Australia’s most lively gatherings. As a venue, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) which prides itself on welcoming everyone, no matter their gender, race or sexual orientation, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (MCEC) thrilled to throw open its doors to the drag community and see the venue celebrate the diversity across their community.

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is so thrilled to welcome the first ever Australian DragExpo which promsies to be a bright and animated weekend across the building. This is such a positive for Melbourne to be welcoming back the creative businesses after the pandemic saw them take such a significant hit.

Stephen Craddock, Director of ITDEVENTS said that they have been passionately involved with the drag scene for over 10 years and love the artistry, colour, positive message and fun that it brings to their country. This is our first-ever Drag Expo and it is already shaping up to be an epic, super flamboyant, jam-packed event. DragExpo will truly shine a light on our colourful world.

The visitors to DragExpo can see the local and international stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race, meet Australia’s own drag legends and learn their inspiring stories, explore the wonderful world of drag and marvel at the very latest in pop culture amongst Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC’s) world renowned venue.

They will also enjoy a plethora of panels, tutorials, chill-out spaces, fabulous shopping stores, runways with Q&A sessions, meet and greets, official merchandise, a drag market and much more.
