Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Mercure is thrilled to introduce its exclusive ‘Bucket List’ on December 1st. Crafted to ignite the wanderlust in guests, travelers, and food enthusiasts, Mercure’s Bucket List features 50 meticulously selected culinary experiences worldwide, showcasing the finest places to dine and savor while staying at a Mercure property. The unveiling of this curated list will take place on December 5th at a festive event held at Mercure Porto Centro Aliados in Portugal.

Marking half a century of hospitality, Mercure encourages individuals to immerse themselves in local cultures through the universal symbols of welcome – food and beverage. James Wheatcroft, Global SVP Midscale Brands at Accor, shared, “At Mercure, we believe that food and drinks are universal symbols of welcome and are at the heart of how we experience new cultures.”

The Bucket List extends the success of Mercure’s popular ‘Discover Local’ initiative, emphasizing local specialties and uncovering unique narratives for guests. Collaborating with partners TOPJAW and Munchies, Mercure engaged its global network, encouraging hotel teams to submit their top local culinary experiences. A panel of food and travel experts, including TOPJAW and Munchies, alongside the Mercure Global Marketing team, reviewed the submissions to create the ultimate foodie-driven Bucket List.

The official reveal party at Mercure Porto Centro Aliados promises to transport guests around the world, featuring stations inspired by the UK, Italy, Vietnam, Australia, and Argentina. Each station will reinterpret one of the 50 culinary experiences, inviting guests to savor unique dishes crafted by local chefs, bartenders, and suppliers. The celebration will also include live musical performances and an opportunity to meet Jesse Burgess from TOPJAW.

Each of the 50 Bucket List experiences is intricately tied to a specific Mercure hotel destination. With over 950 hotels globally, Mercure’s presence spans from Jakarta to Oxford, offering not only knowledgeable hotel teams but also a deep understanding of the evolving culture in their neighborhoods.

Some highlights from Mercure’s Bucket List include savoring fresh oysters on Kangaroo Island, crafting seaweed caviar in La Baule, learning ancient fishing traditions in Koh Samui, mastering authentic paella in Benidorm, and indulging in a trifecta of Japanese traditions in Kyoto.

Mr. Wheatcroft expressed, “Helping our guests discover the heart of a destination is what Mercure is designed for. We hope our new Bucket List will inspire more people to venture out into the world, go beyond the tried-and-tested landmarks, and join us at a Mercure destination for authentic culture, outstanding food and drinks, and joyful encounters with local characters.” After experiencing one of Mercure’s Bucket List adventures, guests can return to a warm and authentically inspired Mercure hotel for a comfortable night’s sleep.
