The Ministry of Tourism in Mizoram, Government of India has virtually inaugurated the state-of-the-art Thenzawl Golf Resort project.
Robert Romawia Royte, the Minister of State, Sports and Youth Services, Information and Communication Technology and Tourism, Government of Mizoram, India has tweeted about this project.
The project is developed under Swadesh Darshan scheme’s ‘Integrated Development of New Eco-Tourism’ with an approved amount of Rs. 92.25 crore out of which Rs. 64.48 crore has been allocated for various components including the golf course at Thenzawl in Mizoram.
This golf course is designed by Canada based-Graham Cooke and Associates.
The total site area is 105 acres with a play space of 75 acres – 18 hole golf course with sharing fairway and automated sprinkler irrigation system by Rain Bird, US.
There are 30 eco-log huts, cafeteria, open-air food court, reception area and a waiting lounge, all built using Siberian pinewood.
Currently, India has more than 220 golf courses. With this new project, the tourism ministry of India would be able to boost golf tourism as a niche product by attracting both international and domestic tourists.
