As merchant selling flights, Skyscanner is now taking part directly in its own marketplace. The new booking service will be available on app and mobile web only in Australia, Singapore and the UK apart from its core metasearch proposition.
Bryan Dove, Skyscanner chief executive mentioned that it is not a secret that people are increasingly turning to their mobile devices to plan their travel.
For Skycanner the mobile traffic is 65 per cent globally while most travellers have started planning on their phone. In some regions it exceeds 80 per cent and the majority still switch to computer to complete their booking.
He went on saying that they are always focused on doing what’s right for the traveller and they have been asking them to combine their global selection and great prices with the mobile convenience they expect.
They can now address this need. With the new flight booking service they saw good results.
There was a 52 per cent increase in repeat booking rate versus the mobile average for partners, higher conversion rate and higher provider selection rate in travellers to make their first booking.
Skyscanner will be providing 24/7 customer service and take the full responsibility for ticketing issues and trailing extras like flight disruption service.
