Moldovan airline HiSky plans to become the first airline to operate direct flights from Bucharest and Chisinau to the United States, hopefully within a couple of months.
Romania’s national airline Tarom discontinued direct flights to the US in 2003.
The company said that operating flights to the US in 2023. Operating flights to the US has become an integrated part of HiSky’s strategy with the introduction of two Airbus A321 neo aircraft to the fleet at the beginning of this year.
This type of aircraft offers the longest flight range in its class up to 7,400 km. Flights from Romania/Moldova to the US would thus need only a refueling stop in Western or Northern Europe.
HiSky was established in 2020 and operates direct international flights from Romania departing from the airports of Bucharest, Cluj – Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi, and Baia Mare.
At the same time, through cooperation with the main travel agencies, the airline has become, in the last year, the most important operator of charter flights to holiday destinations in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
