Montgomery County’s tourism agency formally started the effort — #MakeItMontco Winter Hotel Package — Nov. 22, with marketing and advertising aiming on Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon and York markets. The main target of the campaign is to raise hotel stays for people coming to Montgomery County.
For 2019’s campaign, the board has collaborated with a record 37 local businesses along with attractions and 30 of the hotels of the county area to develop the winter hotel marketing package.
The seasonal package develops consciousness about the county as a tourism destination with full potential, while providing incentives to make a winter visit, as per Edward Harris, Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board chief marketing officer.
“The wide-range of members who participate in this hotel package continues to grow, which only helps encourage more visitors to come to Montgomery County during the winter months,” he said. “You don’t have to go far to get away. There’s so much to do and see here this season, and plenty of reasons for folks to #MakeItMontco.”
The marketing campaign that will continue through April 22nd will have television, radio, regional print ads and billboards. There has been a television commercial as part of the initiative for the second year consecutively.
After Jan. 1 every year, the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board conventionally kick starts its winter campaign, a tactic that changed in 2017.
According to Harris, this strategy that has been working, who said hotel bookings have risen every year.
In the initial two weeks of the campaign, almost 150 room nights were booked through the package. This was a record compared with the same time frame in years before.
Visitors staying at Montgomery County hotel as part of the #MakeItMontco Winter Hotel Package get a coupon book at check in, providing an estimated $350 in savings at restaurants, attractions, entertainment venues, breweries/wineries and shopping.
