More than 5,500 exhibitors hailing from 161 countries from around the world have come to Berlin to take part in the biggest travel trade event in the world.

The International Tourism Trade Fair (ITB) is being organized for the first time ever since 2019. The restrictions ensuing from Covid-19 pandemic led to the postponement of the event and halt of tourism around the globe.

A lot of people from across the travel sector have uttered their hopefulness that the tourism sector could be on the edge of a multibillion dollar recovery.

A large part of that is due to what is being labeled as ‘revenge travel’ – a term that denotes traveling as a means to make up for the time lost being locked up at homes during the pandemic.

Nguyen Thanh Tung, the Vietnam Airlines’ Sales and Marketing Director for Germany said that the carrier is poised.

Tung said that they are all set to come back and to welcome customers and boost their services, particularly in Germany. The German people prefer to travel to Vietnam quite frequently and also to North East Asia. He said that they have significant competition with Chinese airlines. However, he thinks that in future they can obtain better regularity and bring them to Vietnam Airlines in Europe.

At ITB’s inauguration press conference, Norbert Fiebig, the President of the German Travel Industry said that tourism and overseas visitors can link global boundaries.
