Morocco’s National Office of Tourism (ONMT) has sealed two significant five-year partnerships during the World Travel Market (WTM) in London.
The first agreement, established with British tour operator JET2, aims to position Morocco as a premier destination within the operator’s itineraries.
Initially, 17 weekly flights are scheduled from various UK departure points, with the expectation of increasing the frequency to 28 flights per week in subsequent years. Morocco has seen a steady rise in British tourists in recent years, particularly around Marrakech, following the lifting of COVID restrictions.
The second partnership, with Spanish online travel company eDreams ODIGEO, intends to triple the current annual targets, with an annual growth rate of approximately 30%. Morocco’s recognition as the guest of honor at this year’s WTM London event further underscores the country’s commitment to expanding its tourism sector.
Morocco’s delegation to the event, led by Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor, includes ONMT Director General Adel El Fakir and President of the National Tourism Confederation Hamid Bentaher. ONMT’s pavilion at the event covers an impressive area of 760 square meters, showcasing the popular tourist regions of Marrakech-Safi and Agadir-Souss Massa.
WTM London, known as the world’s largest business-to-business travel exhibition, plays a crucial role in facilitating contracts with an estimated value of nearly MAD 35 billion. The agreements with JET2 and eDreams ODIGEO are expected to significantly boost Morocco’s tourism industry, positioning the country as an attractive destination for British and Spanish travelers.
