One of the main aims of the agreement signed between the UNWTO and the IMPULSA BALEARS Foundation is arranging new resources and actions for progressive adaptation of the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera) to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda. Its aim is to kick start strategic reformulation of tourism for making an effective contribution towards sustainable development.
Planning and execution of new projects aimed towards local sustainability taking into account the tourism production and consumption patterns of the Balearic Islands, close relations with regional actors, binding public-private synergies, and the generation of strategic knowledge on the part of the foundation feature in this cooperation with the UNWTO.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by the UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, and the President of IMPULSA BALEARS, Carmen Planas. The agreement will be in force till 31 December 2021.
