Recently, Johnny G. Plate, Indonesian Minister of Communication and Informatics, has said that all micro, small, and medium enterprises and the tourism industry must quickly get accustomed to the fast changes in business by accepting digitization.

The minister said that digital strategizing is a dynamic and sustainable process and it requires constant changes by utilizing digital technology in developing business. It’s needed by MSMEs to familiarize them to the different phenomenon and changes within business.

At the webinar with the title – Post-COVID-19 Pandemic Innovation of Digitalization in Regional MSMEs and Tourism Sector Ecosystem in Indonesia, the minister made the above comment. On Thursday, this webinar was organized by the University of Indonesia.

The minister also mentioned that digital strategy alignment comprises five main stages, i.e. passive acceptance, immersion, connection, fusion, and transformation. He confirmed that the Indonesian government is constantly encouraging MSME and tourism to optimize digitization in their business. This would help to boost the financial revival process post-pandemic and go through the ongoing global changes.

Plate also added that the government of Indonesia has thought off several policy packages and stimuli. Also, he said that the ministry is speeding up the initiation to pick up the pace of the digitization of MSMEs and the tourism via digital infrastructure development around Indonesia.

The minister also emphasized that on land and sea, over 459 thousand kilometers of fiber optic network has been laid to encourage telecommunication.
