MTDC collaborates with experts from travel and tourism for boosting tourism

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has collaborated with experts from the travel and tourism industry to boost tourism through participation in a series of online seminars and discussions due to Omicron and reappearanceof Covid cases.


Deepa Krishnan, founder, Magic Tours, which provides training and employment for students from slums in Mumbai and Delhi, emphasized the importance of developing deep ties with local communities. While homestays at this time might be risky, providing tourists with an opportunity to take pleasure in local cuisine and be educated about it by local residents can be a fun and memorable experience, said Krishnan.


SandipTapkir, principal, Ajeenkya DY Patil University of Hotel Management, said that how responsible tourism needsinvolvement of tourists along with stakeholders. Tourists need to behavesensibly, realizing that their holiday destination is home to the locals.


Deepak Harane, regional manager (Pune), MTDC, said, “It is mandatory for guests to wear masks and follow covid-appropriate behavior on the premises. Restaurant services will be on, but food will be served in the room.”
MTDC properties will make provisions for yoga, meditation sessions and wellness activities for guests. These activities will have social-distancing protocols and safety precautions.
