Muziris Paddle launches fourth edition of two-day kayaking expedition

Muziris Paddle, flags-off the fourth edition of its two-day kayaking expedition jointly organized by Kerala Tourism, Muziris Heritage Project and Jellyfish Watersports. This year’s edition will be held on February 12th and 13 and is likely to see Kayakers, stand-up paddlers and sailors from India and abroad which will be flagged off from the Kottappuram Corniche Kodungalloor and end at the KTDC Marina, Bolgatty Palace Island Resort, Cochin.

Muziris Paddle 2021 will cover a few historical sites of Kerala. The participants will get to explore – The oldest trade route, The Manjumatha Church – established in 1503, Pallippuram Fort – constructed by the Portuguese in 1503 and The Sahodaran Ayyappan Museum all while paddling through the backwaters. Most importantly the participants will be conserving the river, with every paddle they will be cleaning the river.

This year’s edition will follow the paddling route from Muziris to Kochi and the kayakers will cover the overall distance of 40 km. Each day they will cover an easy distance of 20 km traversing through rivers, backwaters and important Muziris destinations en route. On the first day, the participants will travel through the Periyar and enter the National Waterway 3 near Munambam. The second day, the tour will resume from Sravanam Greens and subsequently enter the Vembanadu Lake, covering Nedungadu Veeranpuzha and Vypin Manjanakkadu. The entire expedition will be managed by Jellyfish Watersports, and participants will learn skills from expert trainers and river guides. The package includes Kayak rental, expert guidance, camping gears, lifeguard support, night camping, team activities and food & refreshments.
