Myanmar will host International Tourism Exhibition from July 20th to 22nd 2018, which is expected to attract more than 100 international travel and tourism companies and the business industry leaders along with the government authorities and the different organizations and media partners.
It is expected that 10 Asian countries will participate in Myanmar International Tourism Exhibition.
Chinakit Viphavakit, general manager of ICVeX Co said that it will be a good way for the travel industry to attract international tourists to Yangon. Thailand and Taiwan are already confirmed to participate in the tourism fair.
This is the second time that an international tourism expo will be held in Myanmar. The ASEAN Tourism Forum 2014 was held in Nay Pyi Taw. ICVeX is organising the expo in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Tourism Bureau of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
U Thet Lwin Toh, chairman of the Union of Myanmar Travel Association said that they haven’t been able to hold an international tourism exhibition until now because they lacked organizers skilled in the meetings, incentives, conferences and events market.That is why they are welcoming the private sector participation in this event.
The expo will feature the exhibitions on business travel, medical tourism, weddings and education tourism.
The exhibitors will pay US$290 (K391,852) per square metre of space and $320 per square metre for a standard booth.
U Thet Lwin Toh also added that it would cost $4000 to $5000 to contribute in an international tourism exhibition in other countries, which is not affordable for a small travel companies in local area. Now they can pay about K3 million for three days.
According to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, around 2.27 million tourists visited Myanmar from January through Augustan increase of 22 percent compared to the same period last year.
The Tourism Ministry of Myanmar expects that there are about 3.5 million tourists to visit before the end of the year.
