In UP, Naimisharanya, a religious town in Sitapur district, located about 90 kms from Lucknow, will see growth and expansion at par with Ayodhya and Kashi as part of the government policy to encourage religious tourism in the region.

The state government has taken a decision to build up Naimisharanya as a Naimish Dham – more specifically a Vedic city. The chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, has also directed the officials to get hold of the land for the proposed project.

At the same time, the geographical limits of the Mishrikh Naimisharanya municipality would be extended. Just like Ayodhya, the entire route of the 14 kosi, panch kosi, and 84 kosi parikramas in Naimisharanya would be developed properly.

The urban development, state tourism, irrigation and PWD departments have been requested to get ready for a major tourism development plan for Naimisharanya.

For the Hindus, Naimisharanya is among the most respected religious tourism sites in India. Here, there are several places of mythological and spiritual significance like Maa Lalita Devi temple, Vyas Gaddi, Chakra, Soot Gaddi and Hanuman Garhi among many others.

Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit this religious site particularly on the occasion of 14 kosi parikrama and Navratri.
The UP government’s budget 2022-23 had aimed on enhancing facilities related to tourism in religious destinations like Ayodhya and Varanasi.

In the budget, a provision of Rs. 250 crore was proposed by the chief minister’s ‘Tourist Places Scheme’. In this scheme, one prominent tourist destination would be developed in each assembly constituency.
