National Conference of State Tourism Ministers held at Dharamshala

The three-day National Conference of State Tourism Ministers was held at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The conference highlighted several important issues of the industry.


Tourism Ministers of around 12 states including Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh discussed the ways to attain the potential of the sector.


In his concluding comments, the Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy expressed thanks to all the state delegates and sector representatives for their important suggestions.


Reddy urged all states to share and implement best practices for propelling the tourism sector. States need to organize conferences like these at state level with district officers of various departments and stakeholders for developing and promoting the tourism destinations.


Reddy also said that the National Flag will be mounted at tourist sites. He also appealed to the states and stakeholders to set up national flag at all hotels and tourist places. Speaking about the aftermath of the conference, the Union Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh said that India will play a key role contributing toward global tourism recovery with the help of domestic tourism.


The Government of India will continue to back MSMEs in tourism and take advantage of the employment generation prospective in the sector. India will attempt to get back to the pre-pandemic level by the middle of 2024.
