Progress of tourism set-up and sustainable tourism will occupy prime importance at the nationwide conference of tourism ministers from various states and Union Territories to be held on Sunday in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala.
G Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism will head the event which is scheduled to be unveiled by the Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur.
The conference is being held by the Ministry of Tourism from September 18-20 to deliberate matters related to tourism growth in India.
Tourism-related facets of the G20 leaders’ summit, to be hosted by India next year, will also be discussed, said the officials. India will undertake the Presidency of the G20 for a year from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023.
The conference in Dharamshala will be graced by central ministers, tourism ministers from states and UTs, governors, administrators and senior officials of the central and state governments, as well as the heads of tourism and hospitality associations.
The event will be aiming on different policies and programmes of the Ministry of Tourism along with the improvement of tourism structure, cultural, heritage and spiritual tourism, tourism in the Himalayan states, as well as responsible and sustainable tourism.
The role of digital technology for publicizing and advancement of tourism spots, evolving significance of homestays in the Indian hospitality division, Ayurveda, wellness, medical tourism and upgradation of domestic tourism will also be discussed.
