Recently, the National Travel and Tourism Office published its first international visitation prediction since the start of the pandemic. The prediction, which extends until 2027, has said that inbound travel will completely recuperate and reach to the levels of pre-pandemic times by 2025. This is steady with U.S. Travel’s fall 2022 prediction report. NTTO projects that by 2027 there will be 91 million visitations from abroad, which is in line with the recently declared National Travel and Tourism Strategy of the government.

NTTO hopes that in 2023, total visitations to remain far behind. It would at 79% of the levels of the pre-pandemic times. Japan and China- in 2019, are the second and third largest foreign markets and are projected to lag at just 39% and 30%. In 2023, the only important market that is predicted to be fully revived is Colombia along with India and the Netherlands, somewhat at the back. In October and November, in spite of a near-complete revival from Canada, NTTO hopes that total visitations for this year from northern nationals will remain at just 81% of 2019 levels.

The revival, in 2024, is hoped to increase significantly. It would be reaching 94% of pre-pandemic levels.
NTTO projects that in 2027, inbound travel has a chance to reach 115% of the levels of 2019.
