For improving the tourism sector in Nellore district, the administration is considering developing road connectivity between the beaches in the coastal mandals. At first, they are planning for connectivity between Mypadu and Kotha Koduru beaches with a four-lane-road for 10 kms for the expediency of visitors.

There is more than 160 kms of coastline in the entire district from Kavali to Tada mandals. The previous governments planned to develop important beaches, temples, and other places for promoting tourism. Four years ago, eleven works were proposed with Rs. 60 crore under Swadesh Darshan Scheme and various beaches, Ubbalamadugu waterfalls, Nelapattu sanctuary, islands, tanks, and temples are among them.

However, these works stand incomplete. Mypadu and Kothakoduru are also on the list of projects approved earlier. Works at Mypadu beach were proposed with Rs. 14.11 crore and with Rs. 4.47 crore for Kotha Koduru beach.

Officials have proposed possession of lands for more than 15 acres which requires around Rs. 10-12 crore. The new road would assist in easy transportation between the two beaches and the sightseers would find it easy to visit both the places sans traffic jams. Normally, these two beaches remain busy on weekends.

“Enjoyable commute is always an important aspect for the development of tourism sector and the state government certainly encourages such facilities. We proposed the scheme and forwarded it to the government and expecting a positive reply,” said an official from the tourism department.
