Neon Playground 2.0, Sydney‘s largest Asian-Australian cultural arts festival, is set to illuminate Haymarket from March 15 to April 6, 2025.

This three-week event will transform Chinatown into a vibrant hub of neon light installations, live entertainment, art exhibitions, and culinary delights, celebrating the rich tapestry of Asian-Australian culture. ​

Festival Highlights

• Neon Light Installations: The festival will feature captivating neon light installations showcasing works from an exceptional lineup of Asian-Australian artists. These installations will illuminate the streets of Chinatown, offering visitors a unique visual experience that merges traditional and contemporary culture. ​
• Live Entertainment: Kicking off with a Chinatown Block Party on March 15, the festival will host live music and performances from 5-10 pm. The diverse lineup includes various artists and dance crews, reflecting the dynamic and evolving Asian-Australian identity.
• Art Exhibitions and Cultural Events: In collaboration with arts and cultural organizations, the festival will present a series of exhibitions and events that pay tribute to Asian heritage and contemporary expressions.
• Culinary Experiences: Chinatown and Haymarket retailers will join the festivities with exclusive offers and giveaways from restaurants and shops. Visitors can indulge in specialty neon cocktails at local bars and enjoy complimentary dishes at participating eateries, highlighting the area’s rich culinary scene. ​
