As the opening of the Pelješac Bridge to Dubrovnik is of major significance to Croatia, both in terms of the tourists as well as the economy, Neum tourism workers, particularly the restaurateurs, are however not feeling quite the same.
From yesterday, i.e. Tuesday July 26th, for the first time in 300 years, the Pelješac Bridge officially connected Croatia.
Neum restaurateurs along with the hoteliers, Last weekend, didn’t stop from speaking to the media, expressing their anxieties that nothing will be the same from Tuesday.
The tourism workers and restaurateurs are quite anxious that the traffic on the main road via Neum will drop considerably, which would create pressure on their businesses. The private apartment renters as well hoteliers are equally worried as there will probably be lesser number of guests, as per the reports of Čapljinski Portal.
One restaurateur said that all businesses should tell the truth, from the tourists who traveled on the highway to Dubrovnik and the other way round, restaurateurs and merchants made a lot of money out of them. He also said that along the highway, he has operated a restaurant for many years.
They also added that from Tuesday, things will not remain the same anymore. At the border area, Czechs, Poles, and German tourists are waiting. This wait used to be long and in Neum, they would stop to get freshen up, enjoy lunch or dinner, or just a drink. These people weren’t in small numbers.
