The tourism industry in Sri Lanka has been impacted harshly with the country stricken by a cruel economic crisis.
One can see empty hotels and deserted beaches in Colombo. Sri Lanka is witnessing its worst economic disaster since independence with scarcity in food and fuel, sky-high prices and long power cuts, giving rise to huge protests regarding the Sri Lankan government’s management of the situation.
A tourist guide said that there are no tourists to Sri Lanka for the last two months.
In the last two months, there are virtually zero tourists due to the ongoing instability and soaring prices, said tourist guides at Negambi beach in Colombo.
A bar manager in a hotel, however, expressed his optimism for the new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s mindset about resolving the continuing economic catastrophe.
Everything is exorbitantly priced in Sri Lanka. Residents now hope that the situation will improve under Ranil Wickremesinghe’s rule in the country. He has vowed to tackle the situation in a good way. Restaurants and bars are closed and there are no tourists in the island nation.
On Thursday, Ranil Wickremesinghe, the leader of the United National Party (UNP) of Sri Lanka took oath as Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister for a record sixth term for bringing in constancy in the island nation as a result of a political standoff and unexpected economic disaster.
