A railway that connects Guiyang and Chongqing, the two major cities located in southwest China have commenced operation on Thursday.
The bullet train would be carrying 552 passengers.
It had left Chongqing Municipality for Guiyang that is the capital of Guizhou Province around 8.50 a.m., as per the Chengdu railway bureau.
On this 347-km rail line, forty-six pairs of bullet trains would be running that had been designed for trains running at a speed of 200 km per hour. The rail line cuts travel time between Chongqing and Guiyang from the current 10 hours to 2 hours and minimizes travel time between Chengdu, capital of Sichuan and Guiyang to 3.5 hours.
One of the passengers said that he admired the natural charm of the scenery in Guizhou and that he had made the trip to prepare for a family journey.
The new line is expected to replace the Sichuan-Guizhou railway that was constructed between the 1950s and 1970s.
