New testing rule & toll on tourism

Tuesday, December 28, 2021

The rush from COVID-19 hotspots must have a test within the 72 hours before they leave and again five days after entering the state.

Five-hour wait times in testing queues, as per recent report and in many cases, results are taking quite a long time than the stipulated 72-hour window.

Daniel Gschwind, Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO, informed John Stanley, about the rule and the impact on tourism.

“That all feeds the uncertainty, John, that’s been the issue here across the state, across the nation, really, for months and months.”

“There has to be a better solution for the testing. Either we have to massively increase the capacity around the country, or we have to go to rapid antigen testing.”
